Land of the Spirit bear – one last complete ecosystem large enough to sustain its gene pool remains intact. Two-third of this, the last large area of intent temperate rainforce on the planet and one of the largest land carbon sinks in the world, has been protected. The final third, has been opened for development 

Alaskan panhandle on Canada’s west coast is home to the largest population of the Kermode bear subspecies and contains more life per square inch than the tropical rainforest in Brazil.

(including grizzly bears, genetically unique coastal grey wolves, wolverines, Sitka deer,mountain goats, rough sided newt, bald eagles, the endangered marbles merrelet sea-bird, orca whales, and five species of salmon in over 60 salmon spawning stream)
